Chart-topping music producer Timbaland is ready to quit the music business.

The super-producer – who masterminded recent hits for Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado – is planning to retire because modern music has become “stale” and “boring”.

He said: “I just do music. It can easily get stale, so I’m always creating, innovating new stuff. I don’t get into it that deep, I just do whatever I feel, it’s real simple.

“I don’t need to do anything for money. I’m just glad to have a job. But music is boring right now. I’m too innovative for the world. I’ve been doing it so long, I’m about ready to throw in the towel. I’m about to de-crown myself and pass it over to one of the up-and-coming producers under me.

“They won’t be able to be me – there’s only one Timbaland – but there’s a certain sound that I try to teach.”

The millionaire music mogul has also revealed he started making records to try and bring happiness into people’s lives.

He said: “I like entertaining people. I can’t make them happy – I’m not God, and only God can control your emotions and your moods.

“I just like to be a part of their mood swings, that’s what I like and that’s why I love music.”

Rumors of top producer Timbaland’s retirement may have to wait a little longer to be confirmed. When Timbaland told Gigwise he was ready to “throw in the towel” due to being bored with the state of the music industry, many news outlets falsely reported that he was done with music all together. But, after successful collaborations with Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado, M.I.A. and Bjork, it appears Timbaland has officially shifted his focus to Pop and may not retire.

On their official website, English Rock band Duran Duran stated that their long awaited Red Carpet Massacre album, which features Timbaland and his protege Nate “Danja” Hills will be released on October 30, 2007. Tracks have been leaked from the album since December of 2006, and both sides seem optimistic about the album during an interview with Billboard Magazine.

Danja was quoted as saying the band “sounds better than ever,” while keyboardist Nick Rhodes said the band was “really inspired.”

It also looks as if there is some truth to the rumor that Timbaland will contribute to Celine Dion’s upcoming R&B themed album. During a recent interview, rapper/singer M.I.A. passed on the highlights of a conversation she had while working with Timbaland on her latest album.

M.I.A. was quoted in the Village Voice as saying, “He told me, ‘I’m done being cool; I want to work with Celine Dion.'”

TORONTO – Superstar Nelly Furtado is engaged, her friend and music producer Timbaland has told People magazine.

The celebrity magazine reports that the U.S. hitmaker gave a one-word reply when asked if rumours of an impending wedding were true: “Yes.”

The Victoria-bred Furtado was spotted brandishing a diamond on her left ring finger at the Concert for Diana in London last week, fuelling speculation that she’s planning to get hitched.

The 28-year-old has been linked to Demacio (Demo) Castellon, a sound engineer who worked with Timbaland on Furtado’s hit album “Loose.”

Furtado, who has a three-year-old daughter, has largely kept her personal life out of the spotlight.

Her publicist has refused to comment on the reports.

Nelly Furtado’s new single ‘In God’s Hands’ is a collaboration with the Grammy award-winning Rick Nowels whose credits include Madonna and Dido. Nelly ventures into acoustic territory with this gorgeous ballad but there’s no mistaking her powerful trademark voice.

‘In God’s Hands’ is the fifth single to be taken from Nelly’s multi-million selling album ‘Loose’ which is home to some of the biggest hits of last year including ‘Maneater’, ‘Promiscuous’ and ‘All Good Things’.

2007 has already bought Nelly continued success including a Grammy nomination for ‘Promiscuous’, a Brit Award for Best International Female and another number one record in her collaboration with Justin Timberlake and Timbaland on ‘Give It To Me’

Nelly also played a sell out UK tour earlier this year as part of her massive ‘Loose’ world tour which covered five continents. In God’s Hands was the sing along crowd favourite on the tour and the UK crowds were amongst the loudest.
